Former Purdue basketball star Caleb Swanigan has died aged 25. WANE 15 reported that Swanigan died of natural causes.

Indiana’s Mr. Basketball in 2015, Swanigan opted to stay home and play for the Boilermakers after initially committing to Michigan State. Swanigan was named Big Ten Player of the Year and first-team All American after his second season at West Lafayette.

Swanigan was drafted 26th overall in 2017 by the Trail Blazers and has played 75 NBA games. He spent 10 games with the Kings and 65 with the Trail Blazers. He last appeared in the league in the 2019-20 season.

Former Indiana head coach Tom Crean, then-IU players including Yogi Ferrell and Troy Williams, and current IU star Trayce Jackson-Davis remembered Swanigan and expressed their condolences. Ferrell and Williams were both Swanigan’s teammates with the Sacramento Kings in the NBA.
